My creative process always begins with sketching - it allows me to visualize my wild ideas, as well as ideate on my thoughts to strengthen them.
This project required a lot of ideation - I was drawn to Jessica Walsh inspired high saturation designs, but I lacked a direction or inspiration. I was also drawn to scanner photography, and began by creating type in a scanner to spell out "Stay Curious".

COLLECTED TEXTURES FOR PHOTOSHOP LAYERING
I began by creating scanner photography, using different materials to create letters. After completing a first basic draft of my poster, I found that squishing the scanner letters into the poster felt flat, and the details were getting lost in the scale. From feedback from my professor and classmates, I decided to explore if all of the items making up the letters were united in a theme. This lead me to I Spy style photography, which I thought I could integrate for an interactive element for kids.

ADDITIONAL SKETCHES
I explored using AI to create I Spy style rhymes surrounding art - while I didn't end up using any of these, they inspired me to create the illustrations of superheroes.
I created these art-themed characters to inspire kids to get involved in their local art programs.
I incorporated the texture above into their clothing and bodies to create feelings of depth in fabric. I also hand organized and shot a background of art supplies to mimic the imagery of I Spy, without the complicated copy. I utilized ChatGPT for ideation about the copy on the posters.
DESIGN PRE-FEEDBACK AND PERSONAL REVISIONS
After returning to this project, and with the help of peer and professional advice, I decided to replace the typography with handwritten type to add the personal creativity element. I also changed the colors of the type, the shadows below each of the figures, and the blending modes/clipping masks in a couple areas. I also added the Alamance Arts logo.
